    Ok,

I messed up and ordered the sr4130/sr4131 kyb strut assemblies for my 2005 pre runner. I installed one already without issue and as I am a about to install the other one I realize that rock auto has these listed for 4wd models. And for the prerunner they have Sr 4134. I already emailed kyb asking about the difference but wanted to get your thoughts.

Is there harm in leaving the 4wd ones on my vehicle? Seems to fit ok.
    Thanks
    Bruce

You'll be fine, the PreRunner has the same suspension as the 4WD

1 may have a shim under the spring to adjust for the driver's side Tacoma lean

    From kyb

    Bruce,

The difference is that SR4130/31 for the Tacoma 4WD use a springs with a higher load rating than SR4133/34 for the Tacoma PreRunner. Basically, this means the 4WD truck has a higher ride height in the front than the PreRunner does. Aside from that, there isn't any other difference between these units. It is up to you if you want to keep SR4130/31 on your vehicle, it should not cause any performance problems but may lift the front end of the vehicle a little bit.

    Bruce,

The shock is made in the Japan, the spring is made here in the USA, and the unit is assembled in the USA.

Definitely more stable than what I had before which were the original 15 year old struts. A little bit stiff though over some bumps. Guess that’s due to the springs being for the 4x4. I would do it again if I had to repeat. Install wasn’t bad. Did the brakes as well.
