That's what I did on my 2006... and I then covered the head of the clamp in J B Weld.... The gate will still come off, but not in 30 seconds like before..!! I suspect that if I were to try and get it off of my old truck it'll take the new owner some effort and a few tools... hehe OOPs I forgot to tell him I did that..

Good point, guess you should sit by the window. I know if I was in an area that the OP described, I would be concerned. Need to understand I have lived in Maine basicly all my life, and have even stayed away from our "Big" cities.

Wtf? You live in South Oak Cliff, Pleasant Grove, or Duncanville? No problems north of Dallas I've ever seen or heard of.

Of course nothing can stop me. :hattip:

I agree with you. If some wants to steal something they will do whatever it takes.

It came down to the point where I have learned that it's sometimes good to leave your door open in a bad neighborhood because a broken window costs more than anything in your vehicle. (Unless you forget something irreplaceable.)

Whats the point of insurance anyway?

Maybe I'm just heart less when it comes to objective things. Nothing can replace a human or health otherwise.

Would I be sad about getting my shit stolen?Yes. Did I work hard for it? You bet your ass I did. Would I be looking forward for insurance to replace my vehicle if it was vandalized and burned to the ground? Count on it.

Good advice in there to etch your vin on the gate. That's crazy how many folks got hit, seemed like fords and Chevys are targets

It's to cover financial losses above the level you can cover for yourself.

That's why you can choose different deductible levels. Just pay for the level of insurance you need.

If I lived/worked/frequented someplace where I felt there was a reasonable fear of losing my tailgate, investing $19 in a lock beats paying a $500 deductible.

If you report a loss to your insurance company you pay the deductible plus you pay higher premiums for 3 years.

I changed your location in the quote and you should change your post so your not giving up information on how and where to steal your tailgate.
