Installed a McGuard locke on the hinge of my tailgate.

    Sorry no pics, but I did have a look.

    On my 2017 TRDOR DCSB, the bracket on the truck is "blind" in that what's visible is the rear of the bolt. That piece isn't coming out without a lot of noise.

    However, the bracket on gate is secured with one conventional bolt and two torx head bolts. If removed you should be able to lift and remove the gate.

    So yeah, if you're being specifically targeted and the thief knew what tools to bring, your gate is gone even with a McGuard lock. Not as quickly though, which can make a difference. But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
