I installed the X4 yesterday but had a couple of issues. Couldn’t get the strap bracket to tighten down to the rail. Also the rail kind of slopes in toward bed and there is a slight hump in the cover at the front of bed. Anyone else have these issues

Got mine yesterday. Took my time installing it. Applied some black RTV in spots and glued a couple other spots. Not needed, but in my past experience with covers it’s a little added water security.
As for the rails, yes they tilt in ever so slightly and it appears this is due to the swooping bedrail on our trucks. The cover’s rail has to be trimmed to avoid the inward motion of the bedrail.
At the bulkhead, I decided not to install the weather strip as the rails are nearly level to the bulkhead. I seein your pics that you have the weather strip under the cover’s rail and that will certainly cause an upward kick.
Overall I like the cover. We’ll have to wait to see about the water tightness but I’m not expecting it to be completely sealed.

I installed my X4 earlier today and had the same issue with the straps! Going to call bak industries tomorrow I guess. Any new info on this?

Going to revive this old thread rather than making a new one to comment on COLD CLIMATE usage. Installed an X4s this week. Its the latest revision to the cover. All the pro's are really obvious and marketed well which is why most of us buy this one so I won't go into this.

The rails still install with a bit of inward slope at the tail gate. I think if I added shims, this maybe fixable. No further issues with the strap. Hump at the front of the cover is still there but could probably do the install without weather seal if it bothers you that much.

I like the cover, no regrets buying but the most important bit of info to know is that in cold climates, it's a bit of a pain. And I don't mean the cover stiffening up and not wanting to roll. The cover material and aluminum slats isn't the problem. It's the latching mechanism that runs the length of the rail. After a carwash in cold climates, the mechanism will lock and freeze in the closed position making it impossible to open until you thaw it out. With a tri-fold, the seals would freeze a bit to the rails but you could always gently force it open. With the revolver, not possible until the mechanism freely releases.

My next wash, I'm going to open it right after and run a towel across the rails to dry them to hopefully solve this. I have a feeling it won't though, too hard to get every drop of water on the rails and on the cover where the mechanism latches. We will see.
