Sweet! cool idea of putting the lights in the cubby hole, looks like with either the LED or the cubby lights by them selves would of been enough light source but the 2 together does give a LOT more light, nice and cool idea!

Awesome. Thanks for the additional photos. Got a question, is the stock switch just a 3 prong switch? Or does it require a plug with harness

The stock fog switch does not require a harness. It is the traditional 3 prong (it's actually got 4 prongs because one of the prongs is for the illumination on the switch). It would probably be helpful to get a harness though because the prongs are pretty hard to get to. I didn't get the harness and just soldered the wires to the prongs and it definitely took some precision.

Thats such a cool idea. Both the LEDs and the WalMarts are badass. I've been wanting some light in my bed too, I'm used to having light in the bed standard with my old truck. If I had time to do this I definitely would. Seems like it takes more time invested rather then money which is always good lol
How long did this take you?
& I'm with Mitch about Tigahs sig haha

Yah, this is probably my favorite mod so far. Bed lights should come factory with these trucks. Yah this whole thing was relatively cheap. the LEDs were $20 and the wal-mart lights were like $20 too, I think. Installing the walmart light probably took about an hour to an hour and a half to do (including the wiring and all). The LEDs only took about 20 minutes because I used the existing wiring for the walmart lights. Definitely worth it.

Some of you were asking for pictures of JUST the LEDs.. Well here they are. It's definitely enough light. Looks pretty clean. If I hadn't already installed the other lights, I probably would just leave them out.

You're welcome. Unfortunately, the switches are not in the same circuit. :pout:
The reason why I didn't put them in the same circuit is because the factory switch is a SPST (single pole, single throw) switch, and you would need a single pole DOUBLE throw switch to wire them into the same circuit (ie: be able to turn the lights on from the switch in the bed, then get in the cab and turn them off). So I wired them so that whatever switch you turn the lights ON with, you have to use that same switch to turn them off.. It's not TOO much of an inconvenience.. I would rather deal with this problem than to have an ugly non-factory switch in the cab. I can still draw a picture for you of how I have my two switches wired if you'd like.

where did you get the led strips from. Also, how did you run the wire throughout the bed to the switch and where did you draw the power from?

Check my previous posts. I also have pics of how I ran the wire. I ran the wire under the truck, through the frame, all the way to the rear of the truck, went up through the wheel-well, and then through a hole that I cut in the plastic bed liner

Thanks. If you wouldn't mind drawing a picture it would be appreaciated. Did you order the stock switch from the stealership or online? And if online, where?

I don't know how electrically inclined you are but if this doesnt help, I'll be happy to explain it better.

I got the switch from the stealership. And yes, they lived up to their name.. SEVENTY bucks for the switch. Almost not even worth it. I was looking online, and I saw a switch for like 40 bucks or so (I think from toyotapartzone). I would recommend searching your local junkyards for a wrecked tacoma and pull the switch out of one of those.

Yah I basically just followed the frame underneath the truck, all the way to the wheel-well.. I could take pics, but I'm sure you'd figure it out if you get under the truck. Yah I've always been real big into motocross. I love it. I got the LED strip from here.
