Finally go around to installing my ARB single compressor in the bed with the Expedition Essentials bed mount. Here are some pictures.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-1-32.jpg
^ Didn’t like how the top was open so I decided to make a lid for it.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-3-35.jpg
^ Should be enough to keep things from falling in. Time for some paint.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-5-57.jpg
^ Much better. Next is some holes for the bolts.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-8-3.jpg
^ Decided I wanted my switch in the bed as well. Found some material to mount the switch.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-9-45.jpg
^ Drilled holes then cut it to a square.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-11-13.jpg
^ A little crooked but I’ll take it.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-17-58.jpg
^ Rough layout of where I want things to go.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-20-47.jpg
^Onto the wiring harness. I took apart the harness that came with the compressor and just used wire for the compressor, relay and switch.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-22-53.jpg
^ Soldered and heat shrunk the connections.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-23-57.jpg
^ Wiring done. Just need to clean it up.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-25-27.jpg
^ Two rolls of tape later.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-28-37.jpg
^ Removed the cubby. I also painted all the holes I drilled out. Time for some bolts.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-29-46.jpg

    ^That was exhausting.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-30-11.jpg
    ^ Now we’re talking.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-30-59.jpg
^ I had to drill holes for the compressor mount. A little off center but now one will notice.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-32-57.jpg
^ It was a lot easier taking the bottom plate out to bolt up the mount.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-36-38.jpg
^Compressor bolted. Next is drill out the holes for the bed mount them route the harnnes.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-39-46.jpg
^pretty easy just center the template as best as you can and drill out the holes.

    upload_2018-11-4_20-41-17.jpg
^Compressor is in and hooked up!! All that is left is cut off the lid off the old cubby and hook up the power and ground. I was too excited so I forgot to take pictures of the rest.

My '18 has the bed side cubby; however, I think it was eliminated in the '19?

I haven’t looked at what all is changed on the 19s. Super convenient it would suck if they did.

How come you opted to buy their mount if you have skills and access to that shop? Looks like you could make something easily and cheaper.

I'm hoping you have a fuse up at the battery as well and not just the one back at the compressor. Isn't doing any good way back there

If the power cable ends up rubbing on something and becoming exposed, there’s nothing to stop it from shorting out potentially causing a fire.

Fuses are meant to protect the wire, not the device. As the post above mentions, if the wire somehow gets shorted anywhere between that fuse and the battery, it will more than likely set the rubber insulation on fire and that could potentially set the vehicle on fire.

This is some 4awg I pulled out of a car where the guy installed an amp himself and didn’t fuse the wire. Burnt through the insulation, and caught his floor mat on fire that burnt up the passenger floor board

    Mmm toasty.
I loved seeing the DIY’s where the firewall route was too hard so the good ol’ drop it inside the fender and tuck it under the door weather stripping method.:bananadead:

This one was in a Tahoe. Went down under the vehicle and was rubbed up against the exhaust right after the headers
