I'll do my best, but bear with me. Do you know which color is the ground wire?

Are you saying a ground to any sort of ground? Run an in line fuse back through the cab and power the switch through that? And tie the power wires for the accessories to the alternative red wire on the switch?

I'm attached to the blue and yellow wires in the APillar. So when I splice into the ground which leads to the yellow wire in the pillar and ground it off the switch, my lights come on when my door is closed, same as the dome lights

Are you asking me a question, or for clarification of how it'll work?

Shit, I just realized this is in a 2017. I hope that Toyota is using the same switched ground style dimming as they were in the second gens.

I'm essentially just acting as if I were bypassing the dim function. If I ground it somewhere else there no need for the ground to complete when the door is open

Exactly. Your lights always have +12v going to them, and they'll turn on when they get a ground. This will be either from the dome light OR from when you use a switch and complete the ground.

I know, it's a weird way that Toyota wired it.

If only using an alternate ground didn't turn on my dome lights

very curious to see how this turns out. sounds like the switch needs to disconnect the first ground in addition to completing the second.

On the diagram drawn up, you have to add a diode on the original wire between where the switched wire attaches and the dome light to keep the dome from turning on when the switch is closed.
