Man. I haven’t seen this much hostility over being a couple inches short of satisfaction since meeting my wife.

There’s a pretty good design reason we settled on the length we did for our sliders. I imiagine it’s the reason most are this length. I can write something up a little later about it.

Caveat:I am not an expert on bolts! So please kindly correct me if I am full of shinola here.

The tensile strength of a M12 class 8.8 (roughly equivalent to Grade 5) bolt is over 100,000 psi and pull-out tensile strength well over 10,000 lbs. There are over 10 bolts holding this thing to the frame. Even if you assume the bolts would pull out of the frame at 1/2 the tensile strength I think the slider would bend or the frame would twist before breaking these bolts. I hope the slider would bend first! Not really sure there is an practical advantage to welding.

Having thought this through though I may go back and build some larger washers out of plate where Trail Gear supplied some regular washers that did not well span the oblong holes in the frame.

Weld on is better. But by how much is the question.

Really can't go wrong either way unless your "sliders" are really steps/nerf bars that bolt to the body .
