    I put in a new stereo and it worked great, all of the sudden I lost all power to everything. I checked all the fuses and replaced a blown 15a under the dash. When I insert the key the normal prestart lights come on, oil,abs acc. but nothing works. Got all the windows down and rains coming

    Recheck interior fuses, and check main fuses under hood. Did you wire the stereo correctly? Sounds like there could be a short somewhere .

    It was a dash kit I bought when I first bought the truck 2008. Put in a JVC and just bought another JVC so I really only had to match wires. Like I said though, it worked fine last night and this morning.
    Im gonna take it apart and start over, thanks

    Check for pinched wires that are damaged, any exposed copper can create a short if it contacts metal.

    Just checked all the fuses again and unhooked the stereo completely. Is there a way to reset everything (probably a stupid question). Now the odometer stays on, thats the only change I see.

    there is no real way to reset anything. You can try unhooking the battery and reconnecting, though it's unlikely to fix anything. maybe you burned up a relay?

    You can refer to the Tacoma factory service manuals for troubleshooting here;

    05-08 wiring should be exactly the same, just follow the troubleshooting procedures

    i love it when something like that happens..panic mode is almost setting in, crazy thoughts of what did i just fuck up now, how much for a new ECU i just possibly blew, gotta undo everything to trouble shoot etc etc. and then the huge relief that it was just a dead battery :p
