I ordered my MT Tacoma thinking it came with the smart key door handle but apparently not. I saw a thread showing the possibility of adding a passenger side smart handle but how about installing the system on a MT truck that doesn't have it to begin with? I'm guessing the install would be cost prohibitive but still would like to know if it can be done.

This would be absolutely perfect for someone that’s too lazy to push a tiny button on a key fob, but not too lazy to push a clutch and row some gears.

    Sub’d for outcome.

Actually, never mind. I’m too lazy to touch the “watch thread” button.

Wait, so you want just a smart handle? In a truck you still need to use a regular key to start? Or are you wanting to revamp the whole system?

Anything can be done with enough money.

You should look at this set up. Of course you would not want to install the knob portion, you could use your key as normal, but this would give you the sensation of smart entry. Just have the access key in your wallet or pocket and walk up to the truck and it unlocks, walk away and it locks.

Edit: It also looks like they have just the smart entry system available for 189.99

You make a good point in that I need to take the key out anyway to start the truck. But fumbling around in my pocket for the key while carrying stuff and then feeling for the correct button at night and then putting the key away to use my free hand to open the door and then pulling the key back out again to start the truck is such a process :) Seriously though, I'm just wondering if it is possible to do and how.

Would be interested in push button start for MTs.

I like it.. I also found the Viper system that uses your phones Bluetooth to lock and unlock based on the phones proximity.

This sounds like such a difficult mod might not be worth it
