installing bull bar?

    i bought a bull bar off ebay it has the mounts mounted on the bull bar already but where/how does it mount on the truck? Also I have a factory skidplate will it mount over that?

    Which skid plate are you talking about? The engine skid that comes with the TRD O/R or the silver accessory skid plate?

    If you want I can go get some pics of how my bullbar mounts. Its only a couple bolts and takes me less than 5 minutes to remove/replace my bullbar. Phantom is right on how they mount. I find it easier to put the mounts on that go up behind the bumper first and then mount the bullbar on its brackets.

    I have a question...when you put the bull bar on it blocks the tow hooks right? So where would you get pulled out from the front if needed? Just curious.

    It does block the tow hooks. Easiest way to get pulled from the front is to undo the four bolts holding the bullbar to the brackets and take the bullbar completely off. I don't have the skid plate on my bullbar right now so I can use my tow hook for a straight pull, but for anything with an angle and I'd have to remove the bullbar (and unwire my lights as well, ugh).

    This is why I do not suggest anyone who off roads get a bullbar.

    Thanks, I was thinking of getting a bull bar myself but I might get a brush guard instead. I would get an offroad bumper bought they cost a lot and I dont have that kind of money.:mad:

    A brush guard still causes problems off road. It mounts beneath the bumper and comes up just like a brush guard, taking away from your ground clearance/approach angle. If you don't wheel hard this won't matter much, but if you want to wheel and progress in your wheeling, save the money for a bumper. I know its a lot of money, I'm in the same situation as you. Hopefully by the end of '09 I will have an ARB or All Pro on the front end of my truck.

    I modded my bull bar so that it wont pivot into my bumper when i hit sumthing..... i did a nice offroad today, required a locker and all, lol....... and, don't get stuck... sucka, n ur good
