I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma with no dome light for the rear view mirror. It is a plastic insert similar to the images I found below.

I want to install map lights/dome lights from either a 4runner or an older style Toyota Pickup/Hilux. Will they fit and how can I wire it so that the lights get power?

Is there a reason you're looking at older pickups rather than another Tacoma? Same gen Tacoma will likely be a much easier conversion... Do you not have any dome light?

Are you looking to have something that is ignition activated (only hot when ignition is on) or hot all the time.

Depending on if you want hot all the time or not, you'll need to take the A pillar covers off and route a power /ground up there from under the dash, then just determine which wire you want to splice into, like the power wire for the radio or something...

I know @BartMaster1234 has played around with rearview mirrors, he might get you some more insight on the wiring or fitting a mirror/lights.

I just did this mod two weeks ago, really straightforward to install. Get the lights from a gen 1 and it will be a simple bolt in process. One black wire will splice into the black wire going to the dome light in the upper left hand corner of the A pillar. Remove the A pillar trim and handle and work in that top corner. I soldered mine for the best electrical connection. The ground is established through the metal fixture. Try to get the wire with the mirror as it has the connector for the light. Get all bolts too. You will have to cut the headliner for the light boxs to fit up inside the headliner. The metal framework already has the openings and the threads to accept the 2 additional machine screws for the larger fixture assembly. The only thing I ran into was not related to the light install but reinstalling the A pillar trim. Make sure to attach the metal clips to the trim before reinstalling into the slots otherwise you can knock the clips into the A pillar, and trust me they are a pain to recover from inside there.
