I'm trying to install a Kats Engine Block heater into my 2002 Tacoma 3.4L 5VZFE engine. I was told/read that there is an existing hole somewhere on the engine block that the cartridge just snaps into and it doesn't have to replace the freeze plug.

Does anyone know where the hole is or what it exactly looks like? Is there a cover or plate i must remove before i can install?

What does the male end look like on the heater ??

Does it have the Normal Block Heater Element??

Things are always changing so what you read might be true

Having never heard of it being it has to allow access to coolant passages it could leak and with my luck would

It's my understanding that the factory heater requires a core plug to be punched out of the block. I'd think the Kat brand would be the same. I'm in NoDak and I have yet to see a reason to put one in. It would be nice to have it, but pulling a core plug sounds like an ass ache
