Installing URD shifter

11 Access 4cyl man w/CP

So I decided to tackle this entry mod a bit prematurely and now am not sure what to do. I've managed to get the OEM shifter assembly just slightly dislodged from the sealant, but am pretty much stuck now. I also don't have a punch on hand to stake the setscrews.

I was wondering how safe the truck is to the drive to the auto hobby shop on base without the shifter assembly fully bolted on?
