The plastic 'glass' cover on my instrument cluster is kinda scratched up & has some ugly cracks. I wanted to get a replacement, but it seems that the part has been discontinued...

    part # 83852-04110:
    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~glass~speedometer~83852-04110.html

Aside from having to pay wayyy too much for a junk yard instrument cluster that will most likely be scratched/damaged anyway, are there any other options in terms of getting new glass for the instrument cluster?

I saw that there are some other 'speedometer glass' part #'s on toyota's site that also start with '83852'. I'm wondering if perhaps there might be another 'speedo glass' part that's meant for a similar instrument panel (for some different toyota year&model) that would be compatible with our clusters? Are there any dealership guys here that might be able to help figure this out?

I wish this was something that an aftermarket parts maker could jump into & start pumping out replacements for.

Have you had any luck finding part #
83852-04110 ? I need a new one too. The 'glass lens' is roughly $110. There must be a Japanese based seller that has a shelf- load of these...

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
The old one can be polished, but it is a multi step process and not usually simple. I have gotten huge improvements by sanding and polishing a couple of them that were pretty bad.

Does anyone here know if the 4runner cluster lens will fit on the Taco?

I have seen videos about polishing clear plastics. When I do it the results are not as good. I wasn't willing to go and get all kinds of supplies for one little job I guess.

All original with 195K miles. Purchased some 22 years ago with an 18 year gap of ownership.
I am looking for 8313804040, which is what I believe my truck needs. A Canadian parts place seems they may have them. I am awaiting a response from them and if they ship to the USA. Polishing is nice for blury glass, but mine has 2 cracks in it.

Has anyone found a lead on these?

Might I suggest a product called plexus. It will definitely clear up your old one until your new one gets installed. Once the new one is in, it would go a long way towards keeping it in pristine condition. It’s what I have been using exclusively on my motorcycle windshield for years.

Isn’t it a flat piece? If you’re scared of polishing, maybe you could trace it and cut a new one from acrylic

it’s actually not. It appears flat to the eye for what we see. Thanks for your suggestion though!

It's possible but it would be very expensive, printing something completely clear is a challenge, and it's an unusual shape. That complicates things. At the least it would require an industrial quality printer. Not a road worth going down IMO.

I've got some deceased moth/bug type carcasses rolling around in my cluster. I was gonna drill a little hole in one of the bottom corners and vacuum them out. Maybe slap a little plug in there. I'm sure it's been done. Ones like a mayfly not sure how his big ass got in there.

Same but I’m trying to ignore them, ha.

Risky plan, if the vacuuming fails then you have big carcasses and plastic shavings in your cluster

Just take your dash apart and remove the cluster and unclog the clear lens. Why drill it out?

There is a post about 12 or so posts down from this one is why I don't mess with those clear plastic tabs. 25 year old clear plastic just begging to break when you start prying on those tabs. No thanks, tested those waters replacing cluster lamps

I actually just polished mine up a couple weeks ago. I had a couple bulbs out so the dash was coming out anyways. I got a cheap headlight kit from an auto store and it worked great and looks brand new. I pushed in the tabs and the lens separated from the cluster pretty easy. I was also able to wipe the dust from behind the needles so it was a huge improvement for my truck.
