Instrument/gauge cluster LED swap

Good Lord.

Looking at that PCB immediately brings to mind "law of diminishing returns".

Swapping out the "Ice Blue" SMDs would be a job and a half, and getting those solder points right even more daunting.

Red lights ain't worth it.

 

I just did the switch for the bed light and that alone was a pain! lol

I hate reviving an old thread, but how did you get the needles off? The soldering I can handle, but those needles seem to be on there TIGHT!

 

Very, very, carefully. They'll slide right off.

 

I know this is an old thread, but did you ever find out what LED's it takes? It sounds like the instrument cluster uses SMD 3528, correct? Do you know what size the small rectangular ones used in the climate control panel would be?
