Mines gauge lights are on all the time. Truck is fairly new to me and that doesn’t seem right. 2014 Off Road DCSB. I can roll the wheel from dim to bright but not turn them off. Doesn’t matter if my lights are on or off. Thoughts??

Supposed to come on with headlights so I'd check these things in order of difficulty:

Headlight relay for corrosion on terminals.

Pull the instrument cluster to access the wheel switch and see if it's plugged in.

Not sure if either is the problem but that's where I'd start.

If you are in Canada this is part of the DRL lighting systems and you can’t really change it. I know mine is on, and I can turn the headlights on, turn off the tuck and the headlights go off. Then when I start the truck the headlights come on again till I shut them off or shut off the truck but the instruments lighting stays on.

But can it be dimmed? Op says the dimmer doesn't work.

He said he can dim them down but can’t turn them off completely. Turn my truck on at night without the headlights on the dash lights come one. Not sure if the Op is from Canada or not but that’s how it works up here, is part of of our mandatory lighting system curtesy of the government.

My 2010 is on all the time as well. I think that's how they're made.

They are designed to be on. Allows better visibility of the cluster under multiple conditions. You'll note your head unit is lit as well, and they 'go together'.

If you turn your lights on, they'll auto dim, because they assume there's now lower ambient light, and you don't need as much illumination.

Auto dim must be in later models. The light level on my dash stays the same no matter what. It can only be dimmed by the thumb wheel.

Maybe it's model specific since my base the dimmer can take them all the way to off. It does sound like he has a Canadian taco though.

I can use the wheel to dim them out, I was just wondering if something was wrong since the gauges are essentially lit all the time. Sounds like this is normal. I do have the DRL type turn signals.

That was another question I had was the head unit. Even when turned off the home screen appears on the display. Seems odd to me that it wouldn’t be a blank screen.

Nope on my head unit the home screen stays on also even when turned off until you turn the key off.

The same shit everyone else has.
    The cluster always stays lit.

You can set the screen to go blank I believe.
