I wanted something like this but for some reason dr recommended medtronic. I like the stealth of that one.

Some docs have a preference for whatever reason, but I have never heard bad things about the Dexcom stuff.

Not to disparage anyone, but a lot of docs are in certain companies pockets... (not saying that is the case at all, but it happens)

past 7 day summary for me

    87% in auto mode
    70% time in target range
    0% - 0:08 time below range
    23% - 5:40 above range
    basal 58%
    bolus 42%
    BG avg 164
    SG avg 149

I dont (rarely) eat breakfast, I wake up good 100-120. I drink black coffee only in the AM until lunch, at 125 right now before lunch. I bolus for lunch at 1130 or so, and wait 30 mins before I eat. I am usually trending downwards when I eat, which is good. this has better helped keep my afternoon spikes down at 2 hours after lunch. I run low between 4-6 PM. I think my pump is stacking my doses with the micro-boluses and my lunch bolus, and then whammo it knocks me down. last night I went into the 50s again at dinnertime. time for an upload and adjustment to some settings.......its been a couple weeks since we messed with settings......

New Medtronic case arrived today. Not a fan but it will definitely work great at work in the environment there.

Here is mine. I forgot you can get to that screen without uploading.

Mine is off. I experimented this week and reused a sensor I know I'm not supposed to some groups online e say it works. I find it is not very accurate.

For you pumpers... why do you need the pump? Why can't you just inject when needed?

Or is it simply for those that don't like injections?

    Just a curious observer here.

nice, good numbers  I have also read about re-using a sensor, I have never tried it. Do you just leave it inserted, and restart it? With the cost of the sensors, it is definitely worth a try. I think my last batch of sensors was ~$800 for 10 ea.

    Yeah they are very $$.

They way j did was pull the small rectangular piece of sensor tape back then gently pull clear tape from around transmitter. Then disconnect and turn off sensor in pump. Charge transmitter then go through steps with pump like you are starting a new sensor.

Pumpers are generally type 1 diabetics (juvenile type), and insulin dependent. Our body's do not make insulin anymore. Type 2, is the adult onset type, and is the much more common type. Type 2's still make insulin, but their body's cannot use it, so they generally take pills to help with that.

With the pump, it is supposed to allow a lot more flexability in your life, to not be as routinized as if on a shot schedule. With the pump there are 2 types of insulin deliveries it gives you. basal, which gives small amounts during 24 hours, to cover your background needs, and then bolus, which is a larger dose, taken at meals to cover your carb intake. If and when you get your delivery settings dialed in, it should give you more flexability in every day life. skip a meal if you need, eat at different times if you need, etc.

These new pumps have a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) you wear as well. It tracks blood sugars every 5 minutes and communicates with your pump to deliver insulin. Still some settings to figure out, and this is where i am at with this newest type of system.

I am not scared of needles at all. it comes with the diagnosis. I finger stick up to 10x per day.

So much more to it, this is just a quick snapshot..........

I was on pens up until last year or so. I kicked its ass using only long acting insulin at night and didn't have to do meal time. As the time went on I once again started losing weight and with my field of work shots don't really make sense and aren't practical. That and I have to have mealtime now and the Dr approved me a pump and so did my insurance. Which is great as pumps are very $$ over 10k not counting transmitter and supplies.
Needles don't bother me anymore . Trust me after a week you lose all fear of them

Well this week has been horrible. 2 sensors bad(yeah right) constantly wanting a bcg immediately after calibrating I gave up with it for now. Back to pens for me. I am talking to rep about getting 630 again. This is about the 3rd go around with this issue and it seems to happen regularly every few weeks. Very frustrating.
