@thewarriordinghy you won't end up paying more than your deductible. What I'm saying is some shops will quote higher than others, and if you wanted to get a steel bumper (not fix the plastic bumper) you can use the same dollar amount it would take to replace the factory plastic to get yourself a real bumper, that is, if you wanted to.

Hopefully you are insured by a reputable company, sold by an agent you trust, have the proper policy for your needs, and a deductible amount that you can handle.
Call your agent, file the claim, ask for list of recommended repair shops, get estimates.
Also get estimate from a shop not on the list.
Talk to your peeps in the hood, everybody knows something you can use.
Be aware that the most affordable policy is not always best for your needs.
See under insured claims all the time.
No, not in insurance, just try to clean up the messes.
    Good luck.

OP, full coverage is a very broad term, and is not the same from company to company, or policy to policy. Hopefully you have replacement cost value policy.
All of this crap is boring, but as we age, start making more money, acquiring things that need insurance, it is important to learn more about it.
Sometimes, an insurance agent will sell you more than you need or not enough.
Just like buying your truck, you need to get some knowledge to protect yourself.
The only way you can guard against "getting screwed over" is by having some knowledge on the subject. Again, talk to friends in your area, get some knowledge on the shops in town.
The worst thing you can do now, is to freak out.

You sound young and insurance companies hate to insure young guys. They do things like hydroplane and hit the ditch. Alot. Consequently young guys pay a lot for insurance. And when they do things like hydroplane and hit the ditch, and the insurance has to pay for it, they raise the premium and the young young guys pay a lot more every month for coverage. So tonight look at your policy and see how much your deductible is. Then stop by a body shop tomorrow morning and get a quick estimate. There is a very good chance that the rate increase for your premium over the next few years (or months...you were only going 30 right? Damage can't be too bad) will be a lot more expensive than the cost of repairs.

yeah, but the ditch was steep and u can see the crash bar on one side... from what I saw it needs a new bumper, grille, hood, and maybe the radiator is bent up.

No, that's just how our ABS works. Please take some more pics of damage when you can.

If that is all the damage you have I would not personally make a claim and just buy a used bumper off Tw that someone is taking off to replace with a Armored bumper. It would prob be cheaper than your insurance deductible anyway and you would have to worry about the premium hike they will make when you do actually make the claim.
Or if you have to make the claim I would get a aftermarket armored bumper and call it a day.

its the bumper, grill, hood, and the brush guard took a lot of the impact so I bet the radiator is bent up.

It's a combination of a slippery surface, traction control, ABS, your tires and braking/throttle input. Not just driving throwing you in to a ditch.

This is a different topic. I'm thinking the OP doesnt have the mechanical skills to take on repairs. Just call your insurance company and get the truck fixed by a shop.
