I'm 24 and mine is 78 a month. Ive had a clean record since I was 18 so that might help. Also Ive been with USAA and they're awesome.

It is the law here, but every time I've been pulled over here I've never had to show proof of insurance or registration. As far as I know that is normal anywhere but here...but very few things are normal here

Dude you gotta shop around. I was paying about that when I was 21/22 when I picked up my twin turbo stealth... found allstate of all of them cut that in half for me. Lot of savings for a few calls...

rates will vary by vehicle, zip code, driving record, and coverage. I am a licensed broker in CA - I have about 15 different companies that I can rate through, if you want some quotes, PM me for my contact info...quotes are free and no broker fees :)

In MI (no-fault state, so insurance costs more) I pay about $210/mo. $80/mo for the Tacoma and $130/mo for the Mitsubishi (Mitsubishis are expensive to insure due to damn kids always wrecking them and getting hurt.) Two tickets on record, however, stellar credit score keeps my rates down. Full coverage on both cars and $100 deductibles. Current provider is Grange, via a local broker, but I reshop for insurance every 6 months.

DING DING- This is the guy to talk to!! Everyone who isn't in your area of CA is USLESS to you. I moved from the Tampa area to the FL/AL border and my insurance changed about 300 dollars every 6 months.

Get the quotes and play with the options- If you can carry a higher deductible go for it (I use 1000 cause I can cover that any day I need to and it means I give less to the insurance company every month). Make sure you meet the state mins for coverage, but adjust those too and see what happens.

    33, clean record, full coverage with a $250 / $500 deductible, $712 per year ($59 / month).

On a somewhat related note, when I was in high school I had a Camaro. Even with a clean record, the insurance company wanted more per year for full coverage than what the car was worth ($3500 per year, if I remember right).

I have state farm, girlfriend has progressive. Progressive seems like they have really been on top of their stuff. My girlfriend has had 1 accident, no fault, and drove into wall in parking garage by accelerating instead of braking on accident (don't ask). Her rates are so cheap compared to mine I hate it.
