Brand new transmission rebuild differential 4.10 gears in the back and a recent front end rebuild. I own a 95.5 Tacoma with the same engine that I have Outback for parts I have heard that certain parts will switch over with no problem to 8100 from Tacoma.

No, I took it off to see if I could tow it with another truck but the frame was pushed back to far.

Talked to the frame shop today. He thinks by Monday or Tuesday of this next week he should have it all straightened out.

OK, so I called my insurance company, they are going to come look at my truck tomorrow and decide weather they are going to total it out or start repairs being as I have full coverage. I have already had the frame straightened so if by chance they happen to total it out I will not allow them to take it because I know its able to drive again with body parts put back on. Has anyone went through this before. I would like for them to fix it cause I have full coverage but I don't know what to do if they want to total it out. Any help on this matter will all be of a huge help. Thanks a lot -Clint...

they will usually work with you as long as it doesn't cost them more then totaling out the truck. all they care about is the bottom line of what it cost them to cover the damage and how much they will pay towards that, so you will have to settle for a totaled value "cap" towards what they pay for repairs and you will foot the bill for anything above that. this would/should avoid having a salvaged title listing.

just be straight up with them and say your keeping the truck no matter what and you don't want the title reclassified. they should work it out with you as long as you understand it might cost you out of pocket to repair the damage and keep it

    Sorry about your truck man!!
I'm pretty anal about my truck and wrecked it this winter.
It was fixed minor frame damage in the front where the aluminum bolts up. I'm gonna keep it but it just is not the same. Hard to say but it just seems different. I love my truck and may have shed a few tears!!
I'm sure I've lost some value but she's my girl and I get better with it every day. If I was gonna trade every few years I'd have got a GM or the like.

Sorry about the truck. Sometimes when they total it they will let you buy it back for a small amount. You can usually get more out of them than their first offer.

This is a simple math equation to the insurer. If the damage (repair with OEM parts) is more than the blue book value, they will total it. Some companies pay out blue book based on contractors that determine the least possible legal BB value (the laws for which vary wildly state-to state), and others pay out as much as NADA retail value. After being burned on previous totals, I have researched and chosen a company that pays NADA retail (State Farm). I had to return the salvage fee when mine got totaled, and I also had to accept a salvage title. This basically means I can't be covered for full coverage of retail value if I wreck again. BUT, my beloved truck is back on the road and running strong.

So which way you go will depend on who your insurer is, what value they pay out, what the salvage price is, and whether you are OK with giving up full coverage on the total value of your truck.

For me, I decided that keeping and fixing my Taco was worth it.

Progressive full coverage, haven't heard the best of things about them and their claim response. I'll gladly drop full coverage to keep my truck. I may know something by Tuesday when the adjuster come to look at it. Thank you for all of you guys help. I'll keep you updated.
