Having lived in Florida for 25 years before moving to the northeast I can tell you all insurance there sucks. The greed of the insurance companies knows no bounds whether it’s home owner insurance or auto insurance. They all cry poverty but when you look at the bonuses of their higher execs it’s obvious they’re not “losing money” so much as they’re not making as much profit as they can possibly extract from the masses.

I paid more, in absolute terms never mind adjusting for inflation, to drive a 10 year old Ford ranger in Florida when I was 25 than I do for my 20 year old Tacoma in NJ now. Yes I was on the edge of the age for a drop in insurance then but I had an clean record and yes I drive an older vehicle now but it was still the same when my Tacoma was brand new. Insurance in Fl is simply legalized extortion for which people are given no real choice.

Insurance companies are the chosen ones that the states regulate. Claim poverty to the state regulators, they ask for the moon, get 20% increase, while working stiffs are told 8.5% is the inflation rate. We are being pissed on , told it is raining, while they sell us on umbrellas.

I had an insurance post that must’ve gotten shut down because of a little bitch who couldn’t read and answer a simple question, so glad the people in this thread have a functioning brain

this means THEY decided to raise rates in florida. the state of florida has not changed insurance laws or regulations.

florida has a lot of risks - vacationers, illegal drivers, fraud, weather, etc.

across the board geico is the most rate unstable company there is, progressive is the most stable as they have the best rate-to-risk.

Yeah. GEICO has raised it twice this year for me in South Carolina. I switched to USAA last week.

It's funny as we vacation in FL, Orlando area and if you turn on the TV all you see is ads for Personal Injury lawyers. Billboards too. It's not a coincidence.
27% no insurance. Why not, whats the penalty? Not enough for sure.

I have USAA and haven’t had any rate increases. Hopefully, that doesn’t change. 40 percent is insane.

Wow, twice a year. I can't get USAA even though my dad was in the Air Force long time because he didn't get USAA before he died.

Geico raised mine $30 more a month ,but that's for 2 newer vehicles,so $15 each more a month.Las Vegas,Nevada ,no accidents or speeding tickets at all.

Your rates depend on where you live as much as your driving, when I move to northern Nevada next year,my rates will be cut in half.

please be aware of what mechanical breakdown covers and DOESN’T cover. they get sneaky with those warranties.

Location and driving history plays a big role, but the Tacoma was absurdly cheap to insure for me. $461 a year, maxed out limits, 1k deductible collision, 500 comp and has a rider for new car replacement if it's totaled. Triggers some extra money to cover cost increases and whatnot.

You must be a boomer who has 850 credit living on his own private island with nobody else around lol

Arizona car insurance is nuts because people here can't drive worth a damn.

Lol, just a dude under 40 living around Cincinnati. Credit is good, floats above 800 depending on what offers I'm chasing. My wife's Passat is like 350 a year, same coverage minus the new car replacement thing. I think in total some discounts are added for stacking with a homeowners policy and stuff.

I do have to say though, Geico, Progressive, State Farm, etc are all shit for consistent rates. As soon as you move upstream you really don't get huge changes year to year on things. I'm on Erie Insurance right now, but saw similar stuff with Cincinnati Insurance, Chubb, etc. If you see the insurance company on TV advertising... don't go with them ;)
