    Hello All,

So a week ago I parked my truck at the county 'park and ride'. It is owned and operated by the County. While parked there, the ceiling of the parking garage leaked cement seam sealant on my hood, and ate through a 2x2 inch square of paint, the size of a half dollar coin.

Now, the county taking full responsability, had their insurance cut me a check to get the area of the hood repainted by a local reputable body shop. My insurance was neither involved nor notified.

Will this reflect someday on a Carfax or whatever? Will someone look someday and see that my truck was in some kind of 'accident' because of this? I'm just worried that thetvalue will go down, or someone to be like dafuq? when they see the vehicle history.

I'm pretty sure that only repairs done through a licensed Toyota dealerships show up on a Carfax report.

I think it will show up. I just changed insurance companies today and they could see a claim I made against another insurance company.

It won't show up because it's not an insurance claim. Bodyshops don't subscribe to sites that track vehicle history- only insurance companies keep track. Dealerships do keep track of mechanical repairs, but the bodyshop is a separate entity. Your repair is what we'd call a "cash job". The only record there will be is in their management/estimating program[IMG]

I doubt it will show up on any report. If your insurance company would have been involved then maybe it would be reported, but for small/ minor fixes most of the time insurance companies don't report at all. I've been in a couple "uninsured motorists" incidents. I had to contact my insurance because someone hit me and left the scene. Both times were minor fixes (slightly bent bumper, dent on door). I talked to the adjuster about what would be reported just incase I did want to sell my vehicle at some point. He said they don't report to carfax, dealer, etc.. Unless its something major. Like an entire fender damaged, or frame damage.

That's what I've experienced and I'm with Allstate.
