Mine went up $10/month per car last month. Reason was that the 'premiums increased'. Dumb but everything else is going up so I haven't looked into it too much. Google said it was a thing happening all over.

I'm sure part of it (at least) stem from 4 things:

    1. Parts prices for repairs have been skyrocketing
    2. Labor cost at repairs shops have been skyrocketing
    3. There's been a LOT of cars that are being totaled from flooding and other natural events the last few years
    4. Insurance has always been a sham

Some companies offer devices you plug into your OBD port and pay by miles. If your a bank robber you probably don’t want to do this.

probably not helping that Tacoma Cats are pretty easy to steal. I'm hoping mine get cut so i can run some tube headers and some high flow cats and re do my exhaust instead.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
The money you have is worth less than it used to be, as always. Pretty big jump lately though. Had 10k in the bank? Yeah, it's worth 8k now.

Got the call back from my agent and we now have everything corrected.
The problem was someone at the Insurance Company Fat Fingered the keyboard input for the expected annual mileage to 55,000 annual mileage instead of less than 5000 annual mileage. We still had an increase of ~100 dollars every 6 months. Much better than 700 every 6 months.

Still looking at changing companies however.

You can also do one of those online driver courses and get 10% of your insurance for 3 yrs. It takes about 6 hrs and you can work at your on speed or when ever. They mail you a certificate and Geico has a place on their app where you upload it. There’s a number of them but ( I drive safely). Is highly rated. Every little bit helps nowadays.

So I just got nailed by a $700 jump in premiums for the year, for just two cars.

Here is where it gets wonky. I did an apples-to-apples quote, same deductibles, same BI and PD payouts. Here is what I got. Prices are in 6 month premiums. Double it for the annual.

    18 Taco Sport
    22 Mazda 3 Hatch

Geico - $1238 (previous payment for the same policy was 880)
    State Farm - $1267
    Farmers - $2154
    Amica - $2234
    Progressive .... $650. o_O

Well that's a no brainer. I went into Progressive, raised my deductibles, but also maxed out uninsured motorist coverage, and still walked away with an $800/6 month payment. But I have never seen the quote range be so scattershot as it is now. Usually they are competitive with each other.

Currently paying $924/6mo on my '17 taco with SF.
Have most discounts as a bundle with moto/house.
SF agent told me rates were increasing, yet again.

Quoted $322/6mo for comparable coverage at Geico for the taco.

Something seems off here, either I'm getting shafted by SF or G is much too cheap or something in between.

State Farm raised mine 400 a year for full coverage.
I fired them after 10 years and went with Liberty Mutual for a lot less same coverage.
BTW the CEO of State Farm was paid 24.5 million in 2022.

I asked my SF why the increase he said to many catastrophes in 2022 , he also told me to be ready for another increase before the end of 2023.

American Family has always treated us well. Currently pay right around $100/mo for full coverage on the Taco. Prior to that I bought a brand new 2018 Subaru Forester which was also right about $100/mo for full. Discounts applied for home and multiple cars but it's not more than a few bucks, though I do have a pretty good credit score. Based on experience from a few of my other family members who got in accidents they don't seem as evil as other insurers when you put in a claim.

I've price shopped before but none were more than like $10 difference, deductibles were higher and coverage limits were lower. Because of that I've been with AmFam now for like 25 years. I hope they've enjoyed me paying their mortgage and never submitting a claim lol.

This has been bugging me since the new year when my rates went up. Glad i'm not the only one. It was on my mind to call but haven't got around to it. Deep down I knew it was the excuse of "well everythings going up so we go up". Not my paycheck though! My 05 with 150k in Maine is still cheap to insure compared to my other vehicles at 1020/year from Geico. But its disappointing when it was at 720 before that and steadily going down.

Geico used too be the place too go,when they got huge now they take advantage of their customers, the best thing too do is shop around every few years,as you get a better rate from different places too get your business,it's called competition.

Just noticed mine is going to go up $11 a month starting next month. Glad to know its not just a state farm thing at least I guess, I had just shopped around this winter and switched to them from Liberty mutual where I was paying a good deal more for less coverage.
