I am putting the engine back together on my 2004 Tacoma w/ 2.4 engine. I removed the Intake chamber. Should I replace the gasket? Its $28 at O'Rilley's.
Truck has 177k at the time of engine removal and re-install.

    You should replace it.

Edit: To provide some rationale for this- When I replaced my valve cover gaskets (albeit from my v6) the OEM metal gaskets had a coating over them which when distributed (from removal) flaked off in places creating an uneven seal surface.

I wouldn't suggest that you replace the gaskets if they were like a year old and didn't show signs of an uneven surface, but given the age and miles, $28 bucks isn't terrible.

I separated the two pieces.....to clean egr passage out.....and I bought the felpro kit with both gaskets...
about 6mo ago.....$28 sure seems high....
    The felpro were metal

Looked at old one....and that was the middle cool one.....and its coating is delaminating/peeling....

It does seem high. And difficult to find. Unless I want to order a complete gasket set, I don't need that. I will get the $28 one from Orielly's, not cheap but fast. I want to get this one together, with no air leaks on my intake!
