If you got a true CAI and a good 3" free flowing catback AND the ECU tuned someway or another for both of those things, you might see an actually difference.
I got an exhaust because it makes me happy when I mash the pedal. And my volant CAI intake looks fancy when I change the oil :) :notsure:

Quote me if i'm wrong, but didn't Toyota officially cancel the TRD Supercharger program?

I've been looking for a smog legal way (since I live in Cali too) to add some more power on this truck so
I would get a TRD supercharger installed in a heartbeat if it was out.

btw. I already have the TRD intake as well and I don't think it did anything.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Take some time and read the COC before you are the one that comes out "looking dumb".

There is no Trd supercharger for the 3rd Gen

First, all our Tacomas come with a cold air intake. The air intake for the filter box comes from OUTSIDE the inner fender. But like so many have stated, it will make more noise, so your truck is more powerful - in your own mind.

I get what you're saying, and I dont completely disagree. but I do not consider the stagnant air coming from in between the fender and wheel well liner as "clean" as the ram air coming directly through the grill to the filter. and nothing but a chart specifically looking at the air coming through the MAF sensor comparing the two will change my mind otherwise. I cant argue with science.

I see your point, but don't feel that the air coming from in between the fender and wheel well liner is "stagnant", and it certainly wouldn't be under hood temperature. However, it is not ram air which at speed could add a little "boost" to the intake. Having owned a couple of "muscle" cars, with functional hood scoops, I can attest that you will get ram precipitation, also. The point I was trying to make is that most of these CAI's are a waste of money, but not my money, so have at it.

I agree, most are a waste and you are paying for a sound alone.

which is why I throw the idea out of the URD intake bc it has dynos comparing it to stock, backing it up (i also know dynos can be tweaked to show capabilities under perfect conditions, but its better than nothing haha)

Yup, urd will pull in drops of water in the rain when ur passing vehicles, and if ur on any typical highway with rigs, the waters flyin up as u pass them.
Some of the maf seats are poorly made as well and leave a gap.

Both of these issues can cause the water droplet...yes, even a droplet to hit the hot wire, and ur truck stumbles like a drunken potato.
Not cool if merging, or passing..... getting up to speed on an onramp and having that moment of brickwall to face, does not a safe moment make.

Besides, if stock intakes pull ambient air, and u buy any other intake available expecting it to be colder air, you better have some dry ice in the box.

By any chance, does any one know if swapping out a 2014 SR5 PreRunner exhaust with a 2015 Toyota TRD Sport Exhaust is possible? Benefits?
