Anyone have any input on how to stop this noise in the vid? This is a manual with the clutch pedal depressed. Annoying when starting from a stop or doing any clutch/throttle work in reverse. I'd call it normal if I were really stabbing the throttle, but that doesn't seem to matter.

You have a '21 making odd scratching noises when the throttle is pressed and your asking the internet for help instead of the dealer?

If I hadn't already gone to the dealer and filed a report with Toyota I wouldn't be asking the internet for help. Been there, done that, no resolve.

What did they say? Is it different if lever is in neutral and clutch pedal released?

I'm not 100% sure what it is, but it also happens when moving the truck around with just the clutch. There is an anti-stall feature that kicks in there and can be monitored on OBD. Look for Stall Control F/B. It typically kicks in when the revs drop below the target idle speed, as seen below.

vF Tuner thinks this might be related to improving DFCO in 1st gear also, but there is no solution for it quite yet. My hope is that the Stall Control will go away with the DFCO fix.

I have seen the Stall Control value change while driving. It may be the same thing that you are asking about.

I've been told that it's just sucking air/normal, couldn't duplicate, we don't see many manuals, call Toyota. The process with Toyota itself is ongoing, they'll start with sending me back to the dealer again.

When the clutch pedal is released (in neutral) its basically less sensitive and you have to jab the throttle hard to get the same noise. If you're driving in any gear and punch the throttle, no noise at all. It has something to do with it going from absolutely no load to throttle.

I haven't finished with the stethoscope yet, but it isn't coming from the throttle body. Definitely coming from somewhere inside of, or around the upper intake manifold though. I think there has to be a valve involved.

That's weird you've heard it with just clutch work; mine only does it when you touch the throttle.

What are you using for a monitor?

I have that PID in both Torque Pro and OBD Fusion. In Fusion, search for Stall.
