Unfortunately, the previous owner of my 2003 double cab had some sub-par body work done on the tailgate and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Its rusting through and the paint looks horrible.

I came across a tailgate off a 2000 extended cab that is semi-local for $100 and I'm wondering if it will fit onto my 2003 short bed. I'd rather do a quick swap than do-do the body workshit tailgate.jpg

    Anyone have experience with this?

    Thanks in advance

Cool beans. One more thing, did the 2000 come in a lunar mist? I can tell it is silver, but it almost looks a little bit darker than the lunar mist color

Oh god that body work is hideous.

Ask the owner to take a pic of his VIN sticker and you can match the paint codes to yours.

Hello, does anyone know if a Toyota Pickup tailgate would fit on a 1st gen?

The width looks about the same but the connection cables and holes were the items that what I was worrying about. I really like the classic look of the pickups and my current tailgate is dead beat
