Stock stuff is always rated. However the aftermarket bumpers with integrated hitches are not. Too much for testing. Half the bumpers say for offroad use only to cover there butts. If you have a aftermarket bumper that allows you to keep the stock hitch your getting the best of both worlds but the loss in clearance though.

Budbuilt full-length skids, "lite" version 1/8" thick steel. Workmanship and powdercoat quality are pretty good. However, it's an older design. The front skid uses OEM brackets, which means I lose an inch of clearance in the approach area compared to other brands (All-Pro, Relentless, Pelfrey). The transfer case skid crossbar flange had to be notched because my CBI sliders had a mounting flange in the same location.

I also got my crossover pipe re-routed at a local speed shop. Custom-bent stainless piping with a prefab Y-pipe:

OEM tow ratings are limited by powertrain performance, not structure. The SAE J2807 standard is a bunch of acceleration tests up a steep grade comparable to Davis Dam. As long as the bumper uses material equal or beefier than the OEM tow hitch, it will be fine.

from what I have read, @tacoma16 is correct by saying that no after market bumper with integrated hitch will give you a tow rating, but like he said, these bumpers are much beefier and are more then capable. I read that somewhere as well about them being beefy and more capable then the stock. I'm going to try to find it but I saw someone actually makes a HC OEM style hitch to go with your HC rear. Theres not a lot of aftermarkets that allow you to keep the factory hitch unfortunately haha

EDIT: I found what I was looking for but it was not what I thought it was.

oh for me it doesn't really matter lol. I don't tow so I really don't care about towing weight. As long as its still strong enough to put my receiver hitch in as a recovery point from the rear all good.

hahaha fair enough, but would a new rear not have shackle mounts on it?

likely would but I wouldn't say thats the best part to use. A single shackle point on those bumpers probably isn't enough for the pull plus then you'll be having one side being pulled more than the other.

Otherwise you could us a bridal and get both points but still think the hitch is the best bet.

Depends on the pull. Heavy pull for sure.

Did this one okay. Single pull on each mount.

Remeber those shackles mounts are used for winching as well for say holding a snatch block up. That's a lot of load. Yes centre is always best, but the bumper should manage.

Keeping them likely in case I ever revert back to stock.

I'm picking up the dakars Friday. Already have the Fox stuff.

I usually keep all my stock stuff in case of anything

it has been confirmed that the front 3rd gen coils give 1'' lift to 2nd gens

I actually have the BPF front steel skid, bought it before I knew about IFS skids :anonymous:
would the gas tank skid be worth the effort? I'm hoping to buy skids next year depending on financials lol

Gas tank one is plastic and you'll need the straps for mounting it.

I'm only offering cause of no one wants it is going in the garbage lol.

I obviously upgraded. If you plan on doing harder trails you might want steel
