I happen to hold a certain generation to a higher standard...did it bother me?, ofcourse...I suppose now I learned that just because someone is quite a bit older...doesn't necessarily mean they're still not "different"...

To what standard? Most car owners aren't car enthusiasts.

Some car people are snobby pricks. When I had a Jeep I seen how it was. You weren't in a real Jeep unless it was a Wrangler or a lifted XJ.

Sad, isn't it. In the end it shouldn't matter. I'm just as happy to talk with someone that drives a T100 or a first gen Tacoma, seriously!, trim don't matter.

Weeeeelllll......that depends on what is trimmed and how it is trimmed. Some have patterns, others are clean, while other landscapes are closely mowed........

A new angle to start a Sport vs OR debate? We do this so often it should just be a Sticky.

LOL, that's the way it's supposed to work.. Funny thing is, years ago, I realized how stupid I've gotten, because I knew everything when I was 16...
Well, usually with age comes wisdom (Usually)... For some it never happens. Even if someone becomes wise with age, that kind of gets negated if they happen to be a dick.

That's been my experience as well... Many times if I've been walking through a parking lot at a grocery store or hardware store etc ... If I see someone getting in/out of their Taco, I always wave and say 'Oh! Another happy Tacoma owner!' A lot of times I'll have a 15 minute conversation with a complete stranger about how much we love our trucks. And it's usually a bright spot in my day. Yup, we really are a community. The longer I have my truck the more I see it.

Same here.. I bought the SR because I wanted the 4 cyl. ... 4x4 ... 6' bed ... Access cab. Also I wanted something brand new. And I could cut a check for it. It does everything I wanted or needed and it just happen to be a base model. Lucky me.

Exactly brother, that's the way it should be. I have spoken to total strangers that drives Tacoma on many occasions and it's a happy feeling. This particular guy that I mentioned is related to wife's sister...otherwise I would have just ignored the whole conversation at least the direction the conversation was heading...I don't think I did anything wrong and I'm not trying any "trim" war as some suggests...
I'm so fond of Tacoma trucks that to be honest I would have been happy with any trim, just so happened that that here was this one and priced right so I got it. We camp, we fish ,we love the outdoors, tow a 14' Lund fishing boat ...Honda powered (Canada eh) !, our vehicle that did all that is a Honda Pilot 4wD ( which we still own, reserved for winter duty...173k kilometers)...so there you have it. So no trim war please, the world is a strange place at the moment as it is , we don't need any more tension

Ahhh.....you are still defending your actions.

My post about "trim" was not referring to Tacomas. But rather to trim of the secret garden of models, gf, wife..........

I have a sport, I love it. I assume that if I had an OR i would love it. This is my 4th Tacoma and despite all of our complaints, it is the best one yet. The little bit of off road driving I do could be done in a RAV4 so choosing what trim of Tacoma was only based on appearance. The sport had the least amount of chrome, I hate chrome. I also don't like OR or Sport snobs. Both capable of pulling a Jeep out of the muck.

Also, I have a handy dandy sunglass holder. How do you live without that?

That was my decision as well. A shame that we do not get a OR double can with MT up here in Canada. Plus I saved a couple thousand over an OR anyways. I can put that into a locking rear diff and 5100's and be better than a factory OR. I also prefer the look of the color matched items. I know why they do it on the OR and Pro but to me it looks cheap. Plus Toyota charges you more to have unpainted bits lol.
