Interesting TRD Offroad

Its a right hand drive Hilux I saw in Japan today.

Notice the black fender flares?

Curious if they make a Sport version with a scoop?

It doesn’t look bad, but I think I like the Taco front better.

The HiLux is like the unicorn of trucks...much fantasized about, but no more useful than a regular old horse.

 

I think the older gens had a scoop for the intercooler.

 

I like the amber turn signal and rear fog in the taillights.


Ford and Toyota vehemently disagrees.

 

I would think that front end would provide better visibility.

 

Notice that the third brake light has been moved so it doesn't leak in the cab....

 

I think that's 1st gen Dodge Dakota technology/engineering.

 

I wish a flat piece of glass was an option for the 2020 TRD Offroad.

 

While a capable truck, it still looks like a Toyota Ridgeline.

It is like slow cars that look fast, in a truck sense but the opposite.

 

Yeah, imagine my surprise.

Anyway I WAS surprised to see an Offroad version and no, I dont think it was a diesel.

 

Yep, in Japan on the government's dime.

8 years ago I used to see a bunch of modified Skylines and 510s, now everyone drives a bubble, hatch or cube.

Here's a nice little Datsun I saw yesterday. Exhaust exits right before the rear tires.


I'll see if I can grab a pic of the land cruiser I've been seeing lately.

Quite a few Suzuki "Samuri" are on the road, here they're called a Jimny. The 4runners I've seen are called the Toyota Surf, not heavily modified, all run skinny tires.

I'm in Nagasaki Prefecture now, we had Typhoon Krosa blow through last week so the town was pretty empty.
