Interference or Non-interference

    I think that is not what an interference engine is. It has to do with whether it is possible for a valve and its piston to get in the way of one another. I am also fairly certain that the 2nd gen V6 4L Taco is a non-interference engine.

    I was only naming Japanese engines. Not a full list of all manufactures. For that matter, I think the only manufacture that doesn't, or hasn't, made an interference engine, is Jeep. Not sure though.

    I got to it by way of Google, was looking to confirm my observation that it is NOT an interference engine

    I believe this is an incomplete definition -- it omits the possibility of valves striking the piston, which is also part of interference.

    As per Wiki:

    "An interference engine is a type of 4-stroke internal combustionpiston engine in which one or more valves in the fully open position extends into any area through which the piston may travel. "

    Don't like the use of may in the wiki definition. "... through which the piston may travel." The piston DOES travel in that space in an interference engine.
