Interference with head unit

I am having a situation with a head unit looking for help. I purchased a Kenwood DMX809 head unit the problem i am noticing is when i turn the key to ACC all my radio stations come in crystal clear as soon as i turn the key to the on position engine not running just the key in the on position i loose the radio stations its like someone unplugged the antennae. same if i start the engine. has anyone ever have this happen. does anyone know what turn on when the key is in the on position could be causing interference with reception.
I tried swapping out the head unit 3 times all do the same thing any help would be appreciated.

 

Do you have any other aftermarket electronics installed? Poorly shielded LEDs for example can screw with things.
