Interior Dome LED Light Kits

Just got mine installed!! Super bright lights!! Thanks so much for the great deal!

 

They look great!

 

Just installed them - they're much brighter!

Two questions:

1) About 30 - 40% of the time, when I turn off the passenger reading light light it causes the driver's reading light to blip with light (if the driver's reading light is off). Do you think this has to do with the bulbs, or could it be something with the wiring?

2) With the center dome light, as I was installing it it seemed to work for a bit, and then I would go to turn it on and it would blip and then stop - similar to an incandescent light burning out. Then if I pull it out, and then put it back in again, it'll work fine. It seems to be working now, I just wasn't sure what the cause might be.

Otherwise I am a happy camper!

 

Never had any of those happen. 1) Sounds like possible wiring. 2) Just seems to be with the connection if i read that right. Make sure you are getting a good connection. The LED dims when on "Door" mode just like your factory lighting. LED's take less energy to turn on than your factory lights so it may take a little longer to go dim!

 

Ya I think it may have to do with connection. I made sure the 'prongs' were nice and tight on the connections, and it seems to be working now.

As for the 'blip' on the front reading light, it doesn't really bug me all that much. Only thing I'd be concerned about is if anybody thinks this could become a bigger problem.

 

Out of curiosity is it normal for the dome led to dim in steps? When looking straight at the LED it jumps between several brightness levels as it dims rather than a smooth dim like the incandescent. It's only really noticeable looking straight at the light. I didn't know if this was just the usual for LEDs.

I was wondering if that was normal or just me?

 

I'll have to check and see what you're talking about. I've really never stared straight into the light to see if you can actually see if it dims like that. Are you saying yours flickers as it goes dim or something?

 

We haven't had that problem with anyone. If something happens and it actually does mess up on you just send me a PM! Every truck is the same but also a little bit different with power and wiring

Mine does flicker as it dims as well. I think the LED's just step down their brightness rather than smoothly dim like the incandescents. I noticed it when I first installed it, although now I barely notice it.

the license plate LED's started flickering, do you have any more that are maybe a different lot or batch?

 

I have gone through 3 sets already. 2 I purchased and 2 extra bulbs he sent me. They have all now started flickering.

 

All of my LED's from this guy are fine after 1 year. Great seller IMHO.

 

well crap... the interior ones have been great just the plate ones are flickering.

 

That is the strange part they are the same lights.

 

Wait for a reply from OP, he's taken care of a few issues in the past. No use in getting worked up over a light going astray.

Personally I'd send OP a PM before I'd even post on here, but that's just me.

 

No one is getting worked up, I just asked OP if he had a different lot or batch. Mass produced parts have failures, no big deal I'm cool with it. If he had a different lot I was just gonna buy a few more.

 

Long thread, does anyone have pictures of the dome light LED's?
