Don't do it. It's taken 4 hours of my day and ruined the interior.

Plus side, one more reason to justify ditching it for a T4R.

No, wasn't planning on this being a before and after project. I'm pretty sure all trucks with rear lockers have it though.

Mine just peeled off on a cold day. Sucks you had this experience.

I do applaud your choice in firearms though...

Yea maybe i just got it off before it got nice and settled, who knows.
Sorry for your dilemma, but damages like that are part of owning a vehicle and it'll hurt to look at less and less every day.

If you can't get this sorted out... you might reach out to the Goo-gone company and see what they can do. It says "surface safe" in huge front on the bottle.

However, I'm sure it also says to test in an inconspicuous location...

    Worth a quick call.

Does anyone have a picture of this sticker? I have a locker and can't remember it being there. Of course I'm away from my truck and can't even check.

Hmmmm... I vaguely remember having the wife peel that off. Maybe that's the mistake you made. Sorry brother.

I agree with others, clean with soap and water and then treat it with 303.

It's strange, huh. The Tacomas are really inspiring on a long test drive. After a few months I usually start to like a vehicle more. This is the first time I've become less and less enamored with one on a daily basis. They do nothing really well, and most things decently.

The power: Not really there if you're honest with yourself.

The ride: Not comfortable with the shit seats and lack of adjustability. Again, if you can be honest about it.

    Mileage: Really?

Interior: Very cheap and plastic, no rear passenger room and noisy as hell. 4Runner and new Rav4 are miles better.

Overall quality: Outclassed by nearly every other vehicle in Toyotas lineup.

Resale Value: There we go! And thank God. At least when everything else falls short, you can get a decent trade-in value for something useful.

I believe the OP (assuming he didn't use steel wool/Brillo pad/scotchbrite) has either smeared around the adhesive and/or pulled some of the oils out of the plastic panel with the solvents in the Goo-Gone. Wd40 (for the third fucking god damn fucking time!) will not cause anymore damage and just might cover up some of the lightness showing in the panel by restoring some of the oils that were removed by the Goo-Gone. A firm rubbing with a soft rag, enough that it builds some warmth, might do wonders. I know the OP is pissed and has spent 4 hours on a sticker (how the fuck does that happen??!!?) but 10-15 more minutes scrubbing with WD and a soft rag won't kill him. Hey OP, I'm trying to help you.

An idiot buddy used duct tape to secure a cheek riser on an injection molded rifle stock. He used acetone of all things to remove the tape residue from the stock a few years later. The acetone discolored the black stock. He took my suggestion of trying some wd. WD and a rag and a hair dryer fixed that. I don't suggest a hair dryer in this case at all!

I get all these points, but if you need a truck bed, as I came to find out, the T4R will be lacking. I traded in my ‘18 Tacoma for a ‘19 T4R for various reasons, but wonder how much negative posts influenced my decision. A few months later I traded it back in for a ‘19 Tacoma. The overall “quality” and seat comfort may be better, but the interior is severely dated, lacks some of the technology that all other Toyota’s have, and the mileage is pretty poor. If anything if anybody is sold on trading in for a T4R I may wait til the ‘20s are released. I’ve heard rumors that there may be a slight redesign and TSS may be added. I learned that no vehicle is perfect and will not check off every wish of mine. It comes down to what vehicle fits your life and needs best. My conclusion being I need/want a truck. I considered buying a decent size trailer, but would not be able to store it at my house. If I would need it while I was out, I would need to go pick up the trailer, drive to wherever I needed to use it, unload it, and then take the trailer back to wherever I stored it. To me and my situation this just seemed like too much of a hassle when I could have a truck bed to transport whatever I needed whenever I needed.

Sorry for your situation. I hope some the suggestion give you some desirable results.

I agree with you entirely. I think if I reacted to all the negative posts on this site, I’d have given up on this truck a long time ago. It’s amazing how the seeds planted by smitty-type folk can influence satisfaction with the vehicle.

Yikes! Sorry, went to dinner with a friend for a break from the truck. WD didn't change it. Scrubbed for 20+ minutes. Thanks for the idea though!

True. I want to be clear though, I am not trying to be overly critical of TW. I have learned a great deal, bought some great products (@MESO), been informed about issue where my servicing dealer may not have, etc. I learned a lesson about what vehicle works for me and now I am appreciate my Tacoma more than ever.

All true. If the Taco leaves, it will be for a 2020 4Runner....unless they neuter it with some 3.5L nonsense.

I get the need for a bed for some people too. I'm quite sure that plenty could get by, probably more easily, with a 4Runner, rear seats down setup for 90% of daily endeavors as well. Especially us DCSB crowd. Unless, of course, the need for 5 feet of unprotected, unsecure storage is ideal for their daily/weekly needs.
