@caribe makaira This is the link: Interior fuse box diagram help

I've been snafu'ed twice by installing "add-a-fuse" taps backwards. :bananadead:
And, I went looking for the Fuse description in the owner's manual, and I think there isn't one? All we have to go on is the images with cryptic monikers on the fuse covers? (Some very obvious, some not so much).
    Thank you.

I would use a DMM to verify battery side and circuit side since there are many changes to years and versions.

Im about to do this. I bought a nice test light trying to figure out where the ground is.. Im about to map the whole damn cabin fuse box myself, figure out what side is hot and what is not. so funny how NO ONE tells you all the hoops you have to do to put an Aux Fuse panel/control in the tacoma.

QQ - I need to replace one of these fuses and I can't seem to find this type. Is it a Mini? Micro? Flush Fit?

They are low profile mini’s (atm). If your using an add a fuse i believe you have to get the mini with the longer prongs since the shortys wont fit

Thank you Caribe! Senior brain didn't think about the internal design of the product.

They do sell a "lefty" version. It helps when proper(direction) tap is required.

    And the old versions

Did anyone figure out which side is the supply side of the fuse and which side is load?

Late arrival to this thread but I figured i'd chime in as I used the thread here to help with some of my own research before starting the install. Driving a 2017 Pro.

I just installed a Blackboxmycar Power Cell 8 Battery Pack for my Viofo A139 2 Channel setup to allow for parking mode without drawing from the truck's battery.

I also reached out to their customer service (who were awesome by the way) as well to confirm some things, so some of the following info is confirmed directly from them.

In addition to having a cigarette 12v port connector, the battery pack comes with a hardwire option Via an add-a-fuse connection along with several different types of 20amp fuses with it. The battery pack requires a 20amp circuit to use the higher amperage charging (you have a high ~9a and a low ~5a option on the pack itself). I tested all of the 20amp circuits and only the Door R/L Fuse is tied to ignition, the rest were all constant hot with the multimeter. The cigarette jack is limited to the lower amperage charging.

On that question of amperage requirements for a direct to dashcam: Blackboxmycar has this statement in their hardwiring guide:

We always recommend selecting fuse slots that are rated between 10A-30A for wiring a dash cam, in order to provide enough power to your dash cam properly. Always refer to the vehicle’s owner’s manual to avoid fuse slots that could pertain to certain safety features within your vehicle. For wiring a battery pack, 20A-30A is recommended instead.

Here is their very detailed add a fuse guide: https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/setup-add-a-fuse-kit

Right now with my setup I'm getting about 16-17 hours of parking mode recording but I think part of it not lasting as long as advertised is that I'm running a 2 channel setup and more importantly I'm parked next to a relatively busy road and getting a decent amount of motion activations from passing pedestrians and motorists. I have the motion sensitivity at its lowest.

I'd like to add on another battery expansion pack but the problem is that in addition to the high cost, the charging time will require that I drive more than I do on a daily basis so I'll be on a negative recharge rate and it just won't last, something I didn't fully think through with the battery concept but I do have a good method for keeping things up when I'm not driving as much such as when on holidays and on weekends, etc.

I have a good anker camping battery pack that has a 12v cigarette lighter port on it so I can use that connection and plug it in the truck for an hour or so in the driveway and top the battery up between drives.

I just did the hardwire install today from the cigarette jack so will see if that improves the charging rate.
