Put lights back to stock. Find out what works and what does not work. Fix it where it works stock and then mod bulbs one at a time. Good luck.

I've avoided going to LEDs for the interior as this mod seems to be one of the ones that people report going belly up most often. CANBUS systems can be fussy when you give them something they aren't used to, and LEDs are polarity sensitive so it's easier to have an oops.

Why do owners have to change things, especially in electronics. Playing around the electrical system can be very costly if attempted by the DIY guy. Just saying

I think this is sound advice. Others have indicated LEDs tend to be polarity sensitive.

I get your point but I think it's a question of choosing your changes wisely, i.e., those that are within your skill set to do and will have minimal impact as far as potential consequences. One example that is in your avatar pic is a bug shield/hood protector. If it's the no tape kind it's easily reversible and doesn't affect anything else. The two most "risky" mods I've done were the total tail stage 1 and the pro grille. Both went fine and I'm leaving well enough alone as far as electrical changes. Total tail went fine and I'm not pushing my luck.

Yes, it is the no tape kind and can be removed by 4 screw. I did it myself very easy to install but I would not touch any electrical upgrades as I am not electronically inclined.

Interesting. So I think the prevailing thought is that humans are hesitant to change physically and psychologically.
Maybe we then attempt to exert control onto something external to ourselves since change for us is so difficult.
Or maybe, when we purchase a 40K+ item, we want to tweak it so it better matches our needs or wants.
Maybe people like to mod the truck because they find it a pursuit that brings them a kick. Not as much as jumping off
a perfectly good building in a wing suit, but a manageable amount of risk/reward.

Whatever, you bring up a good point... The electronics in the truck transcends just switches and relaying.

The map lights have issues because people think they remove the bulbs from the front so they grab a pair of needle nose pliers and go to town to rip the bulbs out. If they just pulled the console from the headliner (can be done with no tools, just your fingers) then they'd have access to remove and install the bulbs the proper way. The MESO map lights are an exception though, as you need to fiddle around on the inside which can cause a short. But, it only takes a few seconds to disconnect the negative of the battery and can potentially save yourself hundreds.
