does anyone know what circuit or wire I would need to tap into to be able to power some footwell lights that come on with and are dimmable with the dash lights?

Pic of jeep for reference and to stir the pot on a Tacoma board ;)

I'd assume there are a few spots you could choose from. In my 2005 tacoma, I spliced into the light by the gear shifter. That made the footwell lights come on whenever regular lights were on (parking/headlights). Those pictures are attached.

If you want a switch for it unrelated to your other lights, you could likely splice into the 12v plug. Both of these keep the length of wire needed short since it's all right in the center area for you.

Want in it to come on with other lights and dim with dash lights.

Did some digging and looks like i can splice into the light over the Qi charging area.

You usually won't get much dimming from LEDs. Not sure if the 2016s have a different type of dimmer that might do better for LEDs.

I've never had a problem getting them to dim. Ran them in my jeep for years always had full control of the brightness.

Cheap LEDs may offer diminished dimming results. Buy good ones.
