Over the winter I was wanting to do some changes to the interior of my 17 Tacoma SR. I know everything black is popular and I keep reading how guys don't like the glare coming off their chrome or other bright plated parts but I came from a generation that viewed chrome and other bright work differently.
When I put my Tacoma together I wanted something more in line with the old trucks I saw running around down in the Carolina's and Georgia. I never had followed trends and just stuck with what I liked. I stopped adding anymore chrome because you see to many trucks covered with it. I didn't want to be one of those guys.
With my interior I wanted to paint or better yet have plated various pieces on my dash , console and door panels. I like the SR5 interior and wanted to go with silver rather than keep everything black like it is now. I have already located and installed the chrome vent rings. Ive seen some pieces on line from LL Kuang and Tong Sheng but nothing in silver or aluminum. Also seen the kits on Carids website but those kits are over kill and expensive.
Other than tracking down SR5 parts what would be suggested for good quality and durable paints to use and plating is still an option as well. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Also recently was finally able to find a soft tonneau that fit between the bed rails and added the stainless Tacoma tailgate letters..

I take it the pictures were taken at Kent State. Some years back I did some IT work for KSU. Would fly in Monday afternoon and fly home Thursday night for the better part of 18 months. The Hampton Inn on SR 43 was my second home. Nice truck :)

I’m with you on the Chrome. I bought a limited that has quite a bit of chrome on it but not too much, I’m from the same generation where chrome used to be fancy. Don’t get me wrong, I like the blacked out look also, but it seems like everyone’s doing it now. Nice looking truck! I like the old-school inspired rims.

After almost five years of keeping my interior stock I finally painted some trim pieces on my dash. I was really on the fence about doing this when I first saw it done years ago but now I’m happy I did it. Besides, I still have the original pieces so I can put them back on if I change my mind.

Just to clarify it’s not chrome it’s chrome colored which is why I think it looks like shit. Also real chrome is a pain in the ass to keep it that way especially in the state I live in.

Work in progress on my 17 Tacoma SR.
I have been using parts from a Carid aluminum interior kit. What they sent me is overkill and I only used 5 or 6 of the 34 pcs they sent.
Also tried my hand at installing automotive vinyl wrap from 3M (VIVID).
I am still waiting for parts to finish the steering wheel and door handles.
Tacoma Hot Air balloons 067.jpg Also had my tailgate handle and surround redone. I dont drive my Tacoma in the winter.Tacoma mods 213.jpg

    Different generations.
I do what I like and never gave a rats ass what anyone else ever thought.
I get bord looking at the same trucks with the same blacked out look and same TRD wheels. I do have to admit I just saw a newer grey TRD blacked out with a 6" lift, big tires and deep dish gloss black wheels that really stood out from the crowd yesterday. Wish more people would do that.

I find the molle panel for the center console quite useful.
