Well this is awesome. I am going to do it tonight. Even have some Velco I found in an old box that would be great for this application. For now my remote sits in the can cup holder and drives me nuts.

    Thanks bud.

    My 2008 DC TRD Offroad
Put in a head unit and an A/C and heater control unit from a 2012 model Tacoma
Shift knob and cupholders that came out of my dad's 2014 Tacoma (he liked the old shift knob and cupholders better, win-win for both of us )
Ohio flag military patch given to me by my friend in the Army. There used to be an ugly velcro patch on this part of the dash, so I added a little more velcro and covered it with this patch. Covers up the old velcro spot AND looks good IMO.

@LXAbuckeye Can you start a conversation with me about the 2012+ climate controls? I've had a set for a while, and have still not been able to get them to work properly... I've read 2 of the best threads for this mod. What did you do about the Blue-Hot/Red-Cold dilemma?

Its a matter of switching the leads for the hot and the cold. The leads were switched in the 2009+ models, so for those of us with 2008 and older models, there's an extra step involved, which can be found here:

Yes, I did that. Hopefully that is fine... I'm going to have to take a look at the connector wiring and do it over. Did you get your supplies from easternbeaver.com? I got my connectors from them, but will need more terminals to start over...

Yes, I got the connectors from Eastern Beaver. Did you make sure to look at the wiring diagram properly when doing the pinout?

I thought I did, but I obviously messed something up. I had never crimped this style of terminals before and am almost positive I didn't do them correctly. I have since learned the proper way...

I found that they are somewhat difficult to crimp due to the size. Just take your time and be patient, I spent a solid couple hours doing mine so that everything would work.

Noob question.... But my cup holders don't look like that. Are those model specific?

Are the covers around the tweeters removable or did you just paint them in place? That looks awesome I considering doing it to mine

Those can be found online for $25 +/-.. they're an older cup holder from the 2005-2011 trucks IIRC.
