Aluminum costs are super high right now. I’ll request another quote with the current market value.
Unfortunately I do not. I should have started a 2nd gen thread but totally spaced.
Looks great! Love the red accents. The black rack is super stealth against the headliner.

In a lot of things aluminum saves weight. In a small part with lots of holes in it the savings are not really that much unless you are looking at some kind of race build where every 1/10 oz counts. I would venture to say the steel is stronger than Alum and less chance of stress cracks with all that weight bouncing up and down on it.

Meso said that the steel weighs about 12lbs while the aluminum would weigh roughly 6lbs. For me it will come down to the price difference in order to determine if it is worth it to splurge for an aluminum one.

Wait a minute... 2018 TRD sport has grab handles... Does that mean I don't need to put in the rivnut things? If so, this makes me more tempted to get one.

I think we all have grab handles. we still need the rivnuts because of the methodology of attachment

That makes sense then. I might take them off sometime later just to check then.

On another note, do we have any idea the lead time on the next batch? And if there would be a sale of some sort?

These are pretty legit. I had a smittybilt one for a jeep and up until it got broken into, I was very pleased with it.

Maybe after the holidays I'll have some cash to spend

Sub’d... also put in a email notification request on website for when they will be back in stock!

If you want a more “refrined” grab handle, I think these would look pretty decent.

Also, why not just use a fender washer to cover the hole in the headliner? If needed you could always use a 1/4 thick regular washer to leave a little space between headliner and the roof, then the fender washer the hide the hole. Seems an easy fix to me.
