I will be at the dealer Friday and will bug the parts guy. If/When I get all the correct part numbers I will edit the appropriate posts.

Are you planning on swapping out the center shifter area as well?

While you guys have all your center console part number diagrams handy, I had a question I was hoping somebody could help with. Last winter I spent some time looking around for this but coudn't tell for sure if I had the right part or not. There's a cubby hole below the environmental controls and in front of the cup holders. It's probably 6" wide, 3-4" deep and 3-4" wide - you can see it in the bottom of the OP's original image. The cubby thingy is black plastic and then there's a gray shroud around the cubby and shifter assembly.

I'd like to buy a spare black cubby liner and the gray trim / shroud that goes to either side of it. I have a ZeroStart cabin warmer and I want to build an enclosure for it right there but if I screw up it would be nice to have replacement parts to put back in place. I'm going to mount it sideways in the cubby, cut holes on the left and right so it can breathe, and line the whole thing with some HVAC sheet metal. It would pull air in from the passenger footwell and then push hot air out on the driver side - that's the only place in the truck that I can be certain will not have something blocking an intake / output vent while the truck is unoccupied.

I had it in my old Gen 1 tacoma hooked up to a timer in the house and it was great to be able to just unplug, jump in, and go in the morning without spending 10 minutes scraping ice off everything. Saved a lot on gas and (I like to imagine) some degree of wear and tear over letting it idle for a half hour every day. Here's a link to the heater if anybody's interested: http://www.amazon.com/Zerostart-260-0900-Little-Interior-Warmer/dp/B000NM73ZA

Are you looking to mount the warmer any deeper than the cubby? I know behind that is the airbag control module. Found it when i was looking to mount a cb there. Sounds like a cool idea though. Good luck!

Slightly related, kind of, sort of?

I'm looking for a black headliner replacement for my stock gray version. Double cab. I'm going to be replacing my interior with black leather and the roof would clash.

The same upholstery shop said they would redo the roof for $250. Seems reasonable but I figured I'd post here in case someone knew of a Toyota stock liner.

    Thoughts?

Just to let you know, this is what I did over the past week, and probably only cost me $7 at most. I painted the shift cover, steering wheel trim, steering wheel logo, radio trim and surround, and instrument bezels.

I wasn't planning on it, I'd basically just eliminate the cubby. I figured there's probably frame or electronics or something back there; just about every cubic inch behind any given piece of plastic seems to be used up already. Good to know it's an airbag control so I can take extra care to not disturb it.

Long awaited update. Painted lower shifter panel. Painted side panels and instrument cluster rings black. Swapped out 4x4 switch to the black one.

    Added phone mount.

Thoughts: the interior is much easier on the eyes. The gauges are surprisingly better to look at. I feel the eyes are not distracted by the like they were with the silver rings. Everything flows better.

    Duplicolor semi-gloss black.

Just follow the directions. I ended up doing between 4-5 coats about 45 minutes apart. Once it cures its proven to be pretty durable. Makes touch ups easy if you need to re-shoot it.

Don't know if it's already posted in here, but those with a 4x4 looking to do this I have the part number for the dash panel without the vents. It's quite a bit cheaper. Just swap out your current vents. Part Number 55412-04090
