I think Toyota relocated the e-brake handle just so they wouldn't have to come up with two difference designs for auto and manual.

The test mule photographed months ago was a 6-speed manual with pull-up e-brake:

No shit. I live outside town also, kinda towards kings gap state park direction. I'm usually only in town if I'm headed to a store though.

Nice to have push-button start. Wonder if it will be standard across the board or only with the Limited pkg.

no ignition? Push to start? Heated seats? Dual temp zones? Have to see it in person to determine if I like it. Not crazy about the brake location. Hope they improve gas milage.

They will be heated and vented seats I would imagine, same as the 4runner and tundra, its the same dual climate control module in the dash as well.

I am pretty much sold on the 2016 Tacoma, will wait a few years after though to get one where the bugs have been worked out. However, I lothe push button starts as well as other electronic items that are unnecessary. So far this is the only thing I've seen on the 2016 that I am not a fan of and don't want.

Hopefully on the manuals they use a real key.

Edit... That's a pic of a manual, damn, I hope the option a real key to start, at least on the non limited edition trucks.

On the plus side it looks like it's got a heated mirror option

I wouldn't get your hopes up...push button start seems to be the way of almost all cars these days. Unless maybe you're thinking base model. But I'd imagine any TRD and above would have the push button start.

I noticed the dual-zone temp control, another great feature. It looks like Toyota really stepped the interior up. Good job! I'm not crazy about the exterior, but the interior looks very nicely done.

That's not a manual its an automatic, and I can almost guarantee push button start will only be on the top trim, like the 4runner limited.

You'll be fine, I bet the manual/base model will still use the same old key.

    Wait I could be wrong.

Why does this picture have a parking brake
    cbbfd3837fef210baa89b016fe4b1f3b_3b72762f242c5d337d81be105b871ac2af173bcc.jpg

    and this one doesn't

They both appear to use the same automatic shifter knob

EDIT - Note there is also no clutch pedal on the first pic

I agree, the interior looks like a major step up. I'm just not a fan of electronics. Electronics fail way more often than their mechanical ancestors.

It doesn't even look like there is a location for a key fob to go to indicate that they'll do the stupid "just have the key on your person" crap which is just another failure point over and above the insert key then push button option (which I would be more for). This is a bugs me becuase I've been having to start my truck and let it idle to warm up about 15 - 20 minutes before I go to work for the last few weeks, and it makes it difficult to idle the truck if you're supposed to keep the key in your pocket and the truck only works when you're in touching the truck.
