    Hi everyone,

I have a 1998 Tacoma Extended Cab SR5 and I'm missing the screw that attaches the trim to the lower portion of the driver's seat. Best I can tell it's a M4 screw. The part number I find online is 90090-16042 but I cant find any pictures to validate that. Does anyone know if that's the correct PN and if so whats a good source for them?

    Thanks!

Call the dealership, they can send you an oem diagram and confirm that is the correct part.

I suggest ordering a couple different screws if you aren't 100% sure it's the right one. They are probably $1 ea and it will save you a headache if the wrong one shows up

I'll try that! I don't have the best luck with contacting the dealership in my area (asked for a quote on some OEM splash guards because mine are missing, hmmmmm) and they never answered me.

You're right. As cheap as they are, buying a few different types isn't a bad idea.

Call Roseville Toyota, in California. They are really good, u can have them email you a diagram. Confirm the part numbers and order from wherever you wish. Let me know if you have any questions.

OUCH! Not my experience. For parts like that dealer tacks on shipping charges that are outrageous. Note the following invoice. Screws: 87 cents each, Shipping: $18.56!!!

    Screw 90159-60393 Invoice_Redacted.jpg

Better: enter "Toyota [part number]" in a Google search and then select "images". If you find an image that seems close, select the source url of the image, likely it is someone selling the same or similar. Dealer diagrams for screws are often generic, blurry, and not helpful. Also, part number from your 1998 may have been "superceded" by a different part number for the identical part for a later year.
BTW, isn't there a screw that attaches the trim to the lower portion of the PASSENGER seat? Likely it is the same screw!
On the attached PDF I transferred parts numbers for my 2000 ExtraCab PreRunner with bucket seats to the parts diagram. May be helpful, but there are not fasteners listed either document.
    Good luck!

Dealer diagrams are the only good diagrams. I use them every day. Toyota always has dotted lines that indicate where each fastener is installed, and it shows how each part is layered. If it doesn't have a part number its typically not available separately.

The diagram shown above is from the CCC estimating program. I will attach an OEM diagram for comparison, if there are any better diagrams please share the source.

    You think that's bad???

In June of this year toyotapartsdeal.com quoted me $511 for a new steering rack plus $260 to ship it to Colorado. When I questioned the shipping charge I received a very nasty and flippant answer that "...that's what the shipping is...".

So I ordered the rack from swopetoyota.com for $525 and paid a shipping charge of $85 from the east coast to Colorado. Still a ripoff though.

I would remove the bolt from the passenger side, and match it with a bolt at Ace hardware or the like. There's no need to get an OEM part for a bolt, especially if it is something trivial like this, IMO.
