Hello, I have a 2007 Tacoma with the Old man emu lift on it and I noticed my lower steering shaft universal is toast. my question is, is there any aftermarket shafts that we can get for our trucks. Called the dealer today and they want $438.00 Canadian for the new shaft. Now I could get one from the states but due to the exchange rate and border fees it would be just as much and I would need to wait at least 2 weeks min for it. I need one like yesterday.

Does any one know anything about this issue.

Never heard of that piece breaking. Have you tried a local wrecking yard?

It actually starts out as stiff steering because the u-joint is un protected from the elements, lots of people lube them when it gets stiff which I was doing but it actually has decided to let go, which by that I mean the joint has lots of slop in it.

I would rather not buy a used part from the wreckers due to the fact you don't know what your getting. Has anyone ever tried to make a new one by the looks of things all you need is a splined shaft and a universal joint which I think I can get from borgeson

Steering failure could cost you your life.

Personally, I would trust an old factory unit over anything home-made

Quick update, was able to find a friend that had a buddy working for Toyota and got a new steering shaft for cost 261 dollars, awesome to know people still can't believe dealer wanted 436.00. Part installed and steering feels great once again now to replace my r/h inner cv boot.
