So this has been driving me absolutely nuts: for at least a year, maybe two, when I make calls through the truck audio via Bluetooth, the call is ended by the truck, hanging up on whoever I’m talking to.

It could happen after 30 seconds, or after 20 minutes, it’s completely unpredictable. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all.

These hang ups don’t happen when using the phone normally. Nor do they happen when using other Bluetooth devices like my AirPods. So it has to be the truck.

I work a ton of extra hours, and to be efficient I often try to catch up on work calls any time I’m driving. Intermittent hang ups whilst on a work call are really, really annoying to say the least.

    Any ideas to address this?

Is the software in both devices updated to latest firmware. Just bubble thinking here

It's common for the OE head units to have problems with Bluetooth. Search the forums, you will see many people reporting it. I had problems, then I upgraded to an aftermarket head unit and problems are gone.

On the phone, yes. On the head unit, I’ve never been aware of an update process, so I’ll look into whether that’s possible.

I should’ve put this in the original post: I have an iPhone 8 running iOS 16.2. I can’t pinpoint specifically if this started happening after an iOS update. Other threads I’ve read, about dropping calls, seem to all be in 3rd Gens with Entune, and coincident with a software update or a switch to a newer iPhone. And some of them seem to say the audio was reverted back to the phone, not a hang up like I’m experiencing. But I’ll keep researching.

Yeah I had an iPhone 8 at first with my OE head unit. Bluetooth would flake. Some moths later the screen started dying and randomly shutting off. It’s the head unit, when the stock one starts dying it don’t get better.

When you say the Bluetooth would flake, what was happening specifically? For me this is the equivalent of accidentally pressing the end call button on the head unit screen. I have no other issues with it, and no other specific Bluetooth issues with it. Next time I drive with my wife I should connect her phone (she has an X) and make a long call and see what happens.
