Why can't you guys accept that we told you the locker mechanism is not external??

Your intuition is right. That photo is one of 500, that I took when my truck was 1 day old. Got to photo document everything. That's how I remember.

Everyone who thinks this is the same locker from the last model. We have given you guys the information and you keep arguing that it's an external actuator

I'm not either. We are talking about the locker

I've never argued it was external... Didn't notice anyone else either.

At this point whats it matter ?? This IS the trade off when they incorporate too many electronic "creature comforts"

A tiny thing like an anomaly of low millivoltage in a wire or pin sidelines the whole function....I dunno... anyway mike hope it gets resolved to you're satisfaction....

Update: Dealer tech had the who 3rd member out. Tested the switch/actuator on the bench and it tests fine. Resistance readings are good and it engages/disengages. Put it back in the truck and the resistance reading go up and it engages intermittently.
Keep in mind this was told to me by the service manager so it's 2nd hand info from the tech to him to me. They are waiting to hear back from Toyota on what do do next. I guess they talked to Toyota many times today. Either swap in just a new switch or replace the whole 3rd member which I said I'd prefer. They need approval from Toyota and there aren't many parts available. Service manager said he could pull a whole new 3rd member off another truck to put in mine, but need approval. They did say my ring gears look perfect.

As of now the e-locker is disabled (I assume something is unplugged in the diff) until they hear back from Toyota. Which they expect to hear by tomorrow. They just wanted to get me my truck back today. Could have kept it if it's only going to be a day but I bet it will be longer. The service manager doesn't want me to go months with no 4LO due to no parts from Toyota, which I can appreciate :)

Here are a couple of crappy photo's of the rear diff. Passenger side on the front of the diff is a shield. It appears to be covering a plug and below it a sensor. I didn't stay under there long enough to look in more detail.

At the minimum it sounds like your dealer is doing a decent job for you. I suspect you've have a resolution soon.

I'm heading out to the woods tomorrow and will play with the locker to see if I have any difficulties.

These trucks are so computerized now I'm sure the mod would be different software vs a jump wire.

I'd think the mod would be a jump wire since the tech is able to engage/disengage it while on a bench.
    A guess though.

Hmmm interesting. Mine works in any drive. I did the gray wire mod but it doesn't engage unless I'm going less than 5 mph, plus I never felt or saw the rear diff locking up.

    Mike,

I'll look forward to how you get it resolved. I picked up the truck yesterday and try as I might have been unable to get the rear to lock. Going to go out and play with it more in the wild, but am slightly more than concerned...
