Intermittent failure to start

My 2013 Tacoma prerunner has failed to start on 2 occasions in the last 2 months. The engine turns over but won't start. The dealer "thinks" it is some issue with the ignition interruption system but can not find anything wrong. Both times, the vehicle would start after sitting for a number of hours without any intervention.

I suspect some type of moisture problem (both times it occurred the same day I got the truck washed) but that doesn't make a lot of sense...

Anyone else experience a similar problem?

Yes I've read this multiple times in the forum. It happened to me in my previous 14' Tacoma, after sitting for a number of hours as you mentioned. I don't think I've seen posted here a root cause for the issue, I think most just ignore it or live with it.

 

I have an intermittent rough start issue.mine was specific to the days when the temps would vary a lot from morning to afternoon. Mine turned out to be coolant temp sensor.
