Yes. It happened out of the blue one day. I took it to the dealer and they reseated some things and thought they fixed it. About a week later, same thing. This time they replaced the cluster. Again, a few days later same thing. They had it for about a week figuring out they needed a newer cluster. But after that no issues.

They literally brought the truck out from servicing it with all the dash lights lit up, plugged in a crappy hand scanner that couldn't even read the codes, then the lights went away and they told me it was probably just water or something and let them know if it happened again.

We'll see! Still crossing fingers it's the hypertech and I can just warranty that.

    Thanks a lot everyone!

    So far so good!

I squished that cable around a little bit just to see if it would trigger anything but it seemed fine and I'm ruling it out. I also removed and then reseated the hypertech to see if it was something loose in the connections. It's still in there and I'm going to give it a few weeks to see if it triggers again. If that fixes things I may go back in and add zip ties and such to make the installation more robust, as everything just sits back there loose right now.

It was coming up more frequently before investigating and hasn't resurfaced since, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything! If it comes back my next step will be to pull the hypertech completely and monitor further.

I'll report back over the next week or two with my findings!

Idk, I'm not an electrician but the blue wire looks okay. My guess is hypertech. Condensation corroding shit in the board.

Thanks, also hoping and thinking that's the most likely culprit.

Mostly I was thrown off by the first time seeing it after the dealer had it for a day. Probably a red herring, I couldn't imagine why or how they would have affected that area with what they were working on.

Hypertech takes the canbus line and modifies the data sent to the speedo.
It's basically in series with the canbus, so I would remove it for sure to troubleshoot.

Interesting. Interesting do they need to plug techstream in for any of that?

I don't think so. I've had techstream in myself and even flashed ECU with it with no interference or issues...

Nothing's come up since! Granted I've been sick for the past week and haven't driven a lot...

Still going to monitor, and a lot less freaked out about the possibility of it at this point.

Thanks again for the diagnostic help my friend.

Didnt really do anything, but it's fun to hear the results.
(Always reminds me of 'stump the chumps' on 'Car Talk' on NPR).

[Sitting in layovers, its fun to go thru and review old assistance and see how you did]

    Good luck
