Hi all, long time Toy owner. Have one for ya. '99 3.4 Auto 4x intermittent no power to starter solenoid. Figured this out three starters in. Bought a Toyota electrical schematic. Replaced starter relay, same condition. Disassembled, cleaned and lubed park/neutral switch, same condition. Seems to only happen occasionally warm/hot never cold. Once cool, say over night, fires right up. Suspect the ignition switch at this point. Any similar issues out there?

Installed new electrical side of the ignition switch. So far so good. Did a bit more research and learned about the starter relay jumper trick...wish I'd known that earlier would have helped isolate the issue.

More than likely bad ground(s). There is the main ground from the negative post to the engine block, the a chassis ground from the negative terminal to the d/s inner fender and a third from the back of the p/s cylinder head to the firewall. In addition, there is a common ground for the EFI on the upper intake manifold by the "Diagnose" plug.

Any above 150K I'd always suspect the switch.....

of course after checking bat, cables, and grounds 1st

neutral safety switch is way down on the list...its almost never that....just like the ecm gets blamed all the time

beyond the switch next would that open circuit relay....if that hasnt gone out before 150K....I'd buy and keep extra on hand...for that inevitable day
